Rotation occurs in just about every movement we make during the day and remains strangely absent from most training programs. Our right arm works with our left leg and our left arm with our right leg by design. It’s this turning and twisting of the body that pushes us from our heavy right side over to the left side. This weight shifting prevents us from settling into the altered posture patterns and compensations that lead to dysfunction, degradation and pain.
The torso coordinates this rotation and all arm and leg movement. Once proper flexion occurs then optimal turning can happen. This skill starts when we’re babies as the developmental stage of back lying to rolling to, eventually, side sitting.
Happy rolling!
