Dem Bones, Dem Bones – Are Connected by Fascia
“How muscles move bones”
Any time you are “in” alignment or “out of” alignment muscles are responsible for that position.
How?
Muscles connect to tendons and tendons connect to bones. Fascia is the tissue that connects them all to each other.
Fascia – What is it?
- Made of collagen, elastin, hyaluronan and water
- It surrounds and penetrates the muscles, tendons and bones (and organs) connecting them to each other
- Any change in a muscle, lengthening/shortening tension increase/decrease alters the position of the bones through the fascia
- The majority of strength comes from fascia and not the muscle
- Fascia remodels itself based on the strain placed on it
- Fascia becomes compressed under consistent strain reducing its ability to glide creating stiffness and ‘knots’
- Changing the length/tension of the muscle also includes restoring glide to the fascia
- Compression and heat (massage) restores fascia glide
Addressing the fascia quality of the head makes repositioning the joints back to optimal/neutral faster and easier.
The multiple layers of fascia – These exist throughout all muscles, tendons, ligaments to the surface of the bone and organs.
